Saratoga Chamber Players

When Fall arrives, the Saratoga Chamber Players kicks off its season of
chamber music. Artistic Director, Jill Levy, brings together professional
musicians from Europe, Asia, Canada and the U.S. to create a varied set of
concerts. The 2015-16 season marks its 29th year of operation.

Levy is also concertmaster of the Albany Symphony Orchestra, a
position she has held since 1993 after several years with the Pittsburgh
Symphony. In 1994, SCP’s founding Artistic Director, Lucy Manning,
moved out of the area and asked Levy to take the reins of the organization.

For each concert Levy chooses a different mix of musicians with a variety of
instruments to present pieces from the 16th to the 21st century. “I love
playing with small groups of musicians,” she noted. “It’s fun to work out
interpretations of musical phrases with other professionals and to explore
new instrumental combinations.”

The season opener on September 20, for example, will have music for
the harp, clarinet, flute, cello, viola and violin. The 5 concert season
concludes with two performances, one at Tannery Pond in North Creek and
the following day back in Saratoga. More information on programs and
musicians as well as musical excerpts from past concerts are available at www.saratogachamberplayers.com.
