Saints Beat Peacocks, Snap Three-Game Losing Streak

The Siena men's basketball team had a 64-47 victory over Saint Peter's Thursday at Times Union Center.

The Saints snapped a three-game losing streak and are now tied for sixth with Monmouth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference standings.

Meanwhile, it wasn’t such a good night for UAlbany. The Danes lost to New Hampshire 60-56.

The UAlbany women’s team crushed New Hampshire 88-47.

In top 25 college basketball, No. 1 Arizona beat Colorado 69-57. No. 6 Florida had a 68-62 win over Alabama. Fifteenth-ranked Cincinnati defeated UCF 69-51. It was No. 17 Ohio St. over Illinois 62-55 and No. 23 Memphis topped Houston 82-59.

In the NBA, Chris Bosh poured in 31 points and LeBron James added 27 as the Miami Heat beat the Lakers 109-102. In the only other NBA game last night, the Portland Trail Blazers downed Denver 110-105.

In the NHL, Carolina beat Buffalo 5-3. Pittsburgh topped the NY Islanders 6-4. It was Columbus over Philadelphia 5-2. St. Louis had a 2-1 victory over the NY Rangers. Tampa Bay won against Ottawa 4-3 in a shootout. Minnesota beat Chicago 2-1. Dallas crushed Toronto 7-1. Anaheim edged Los Angeles 2-1. It was Nashville over Vancouver 2-1 and San Jose shut out Winnipeg 1-0.

In golf, Stewart Cink fired an 8-under 64 to take the first-round lead at the Farmers Insurance Open.

Finally, it was an emotional day for Snowmobile Freestyle competitor Colten Moore. Moore collected his second X Games gold medal and dedicated the win to his older brother, Caleb, who died in last year's competition. It was the only death in the 20-year history of the X Games.
