20th District Representative Paul Tonko will spend a week touring Capital Region drinking water systems as Congress considers legislation that would support local projects.

Congressman Tonko will begin his tour Tuesday with a visit to the Town of Rotterdam, which draws its drinking water from the Great Flats Aquifer. The aquifer also supplies drinking water to the City of Schenectady.

On Wednesday, the Democrat will tour baby food manufacturer Beech-Nut in Amsterdam. On Thursday, Tonko will make stops in Rensselaer, East Greenbush, and Castleton-on-Hudson. He will return to Amsterdam on Friday before a Clean Water Beer Summit with Shmaltz Brewing in Saratoga Springs.

Tonko is an author of the AQUA Act, which would significantly increase funding for local communities dealing with water infrastructure problems.
