Protesters Plan Rally In Saratoga Springs

WAMC

Protesters in Saratoga Springs are planning a demonstration against the city’s police department as the Spa City fills with visitors for the annual First Night New Year’s Eve celebration.

A group of protesters is set to gather outside city hall at 6:30 pm. As posted on Facebook, organizers say “we will not stop until governments and police are accountable for their crimes.”

The rally is organized by group Justice For Darryl, made of area residents, friends, and family of Darryl Mount Jr., who died this year after sustaining injuries during a downtown police foot chase on Labor Day weekend, 2013.

The group said online it plans to march the demonstration down Broadway toward Congress Park.
