Police Apprehend Suspect In Attack That Claimed City Worker

Police in North Greenbush say a suspect  is being held as the investigation into the deadly stabbing attack on Troy Director of Operations William Chamberlain continues.

Joseph M. Vandenburgh was sent to Rensselaer County jail Friday but has not been charged in connection with the attack near Chamberlain's home in Wynatskill in the town of North Greenbush on Thursday night.

Vandenburgh  is on parole for a previous burglary conviction and is now being charged with violation of parole.

On Friday afternoon, Troy mayor Lou Rosamilia commented on the grief shared among city employees.

"The mood upstairs was solemn. It was sorrowful, painful, and yet, in a sense joyous, because we had the opportunity to know this man."

Chamberlain worked for the City of Troy for 30 years.
