Playland Coaster Receives Landmark Designation

A roller coaster in the Hudson Valley has been designated a landmark by a nonprofit organization.

The American Coaster Enthusiasts will award the designation to the Kiddy Coaster, at Playland amusement park in Rye, on Saturday (July 28). The Kiddy Coaster, which reaches 16 feet and is a long-oval shaped ride, opened with the park in 1928. The ACE Roller Coaster Landmark program began in 2002 to honor roller coasters of particular historic significance. To date, 41 coasters have received the ACE Landmark designation, including another one at Playland — the Dragon Coaster, which received the designation in 2009.
