The state Legislature's most powerful Democrat is planning to take another tour across New York state.

Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie of the Bronx announced Monday that later this month he'll start this third statewide tour since assuming the Democrat-controlled chamber's top position in 2015.

Heastie's itinerary includes stops in the Albany area, Hudson Valley, Southern Tier, North County, Long Island, and western and central New York.

He says the tours give him the opportunity to learn about the issues facing communities in different regions of the state.

Heastie said last year that he learned so much on his first tour in 2015 that he decided to repeat the statewide jaunts so he could meet with local officials and residents.
