NH Lawmakers Seek to Restrict Drone Surveillance

New Hampshire lawmakers are proposing putting up a privacy bubble against surveillance drones.

Leading the charge is Republican Representative Neal Kurk, who says it's obvious drones will soon become both widespread and intrusive.

The bill cleared a committee by a vote of 16-2 and could be taken up in the House as early as Wednesday. It prohibits drones from taking pictures over private property without the owner's permission.

New Hampshire is among 34 states that proposed various drone privacy bills this year.

Kurk says the bill would put into law the privacy expectations New Hampshire citizens have today.

Congress has ordered the Federal Aviation Administration to integrate drones into the national airspace by 2015.

According to American Civil Liberties analysts, bills in four of the 34 states with proposed restrictions failed.
