Massachusetts casino regulators say hiring goals for the state’s first resort casino are on track to be met or exceeded.
By the time MGM Springfield opens on August 24th it should have at least 3,000 people on the payroll, as promised.
Massachusetts Gaming Commission Chairman Stephen Crosby said based on statistics supplied by MGM it also appears goals will be reached for employing Springfield residents, minorities, women, and veterans.
"They have met the employment numbers that we haveset out for them and we set pretty high standards," Crosby said in an interview.
The gaming commission will continue to monitor MGM’s employment practices for several years after the Springfield casino opens.
