Massachusetts lawmakers are getting back at work this week on Beacon Hill.

On Wednesday, the Joint Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure will hold a public hearing at the Statehouse on more than two dozen bills.

One of the proposals would exempt public school athletic stadiums from the state's uniform plumbing code to help lower costs.

Other bills would clarify that homeowners have the right to perform electrical work on their own single family homes and require safety tests on all power-operated doors each year.

Yet another bill would require owners of self-storage facilities to keep the names and last known addresses of everyone who is renting a space for at least one year after the date of their last entry for inspection by licensing authorities and the police.
