Earlier this week, Johnstown’s Common Council adopted a budget introduced by interim Mayor Cindy Lakata calling for a 9 percent rate increase.
According to the Gloversville Leader-Herald, the $12.7 million plan was adopted “with an eye toward an improved financial picture next year.”
The budget exceeds the state tax cap. With a tax levy around $5.5 million, it increases the levy by $441,000. The tax rate will increase by $1 per $1,000 of assessed value, from $11.36 to $12.36.
