In some ways, Jamion Christian is having a typical summer: he’s been on the recruiting trail and in the gym getting ready for the start of college basketball season this fall. But Christian also got married — just days after being hired away after six seasons at Mount St. Mary’s to become the 17th head basketball coach at Siena College.

Christian, who is 36, is known for the “Mount Mayhem” style of play that led the Mount to two NCAA Tournaments. Now, Siena is hoping Christian can bring the Saints back to the dance for the first time since 2010.

A lifelong resident of the Capital Region, Ian joined WAMC in late 2008 and became news director in 2013. He began working on Morning Edition and has produced The Capitol Connection, Congressional Corner, and several other WAMC programs. Ian can also be heard as the host of the WAMC News Podcast and on The Roundtable and various newscasts. Ian holds a BA in English and journalism and an MA in English, both from the University at Albany, where he has taught journalism since 2013.
