Hudson Valley County Launches Clean Energy Program

Orange County Chamber of Commerce/Energize NY

A county executive in the Hudson Valley says his county is the first in New York State to adopt a certain clean energy program.

Orange County Executive Steve Neuhuas says his county is the first to launch Energize NY. He also announced during an Orange County Chamber of Commerce breakfast that a recently received grant will go toward a solar farm at the county’s 9-1-1 center.

“And I’m proud to announce that we’re going to have a solar farm there that will make that building itself, and if you’ve ever been there, it’s very big and it costs a lot of energy,  a lot of computers, our IT are going there, it will be 100 percent energy efficient and energy independent,” said Neuhaus.

As for the Energize NY program, Neuhaus says it will help commercial property owners address rising operating costs by providing critical support, tools, and long-term financing to implement clean-energy upgrades for their buildings.
