Green Island Official Arrested

A Green Island town justice was arrested Saturday, charged with choking his wife.

Jeffrey Dorrance was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, a misdemeanor. The Times Union, quoting a law enforcement official, says He was arraigned early Sunday in Watervliet City Court, and released on his own recognizance.

According to that official, Dorrance's wife went to the Green Island police department to report she had been assaulted. She had bruising on her neck and appeared to have been "roughed up."

Dorrance lives on Hudson Avenue in Green Island and is listed as a vice president at TD Bank. He has been a town justice since 2003.

Green Island police, citing a potential conflict in handling the case, referred the investigation to the Albany County Sheriff's Department.
