Goshen Planning Board Approves Legoland NY Site Plan

A town planning board has approved the site plan for a proposed Legoland New York theme park in Orange County, completing a 17-month review of the project.

The Goshen planning board voted 6-0 in favor of Merlin Entertainments’ $500 million project. In a statement, head of project and community relations for Legoland New York Phil Royle thanked the planning board for granting conditional approval for the site plan. Opponents of the park have called for a referendum on the sale of several small parcels of land from the town to developers. Town officials are fighting the referendum effort and say even if voters block the sale, the park will still be built under a modified plan. Royle has previously said that, if all is approved, Legoland would be on track to open late summer 2019.
