A candidate in a New York state Senate race out of Westchester has conceded.

Republican Joseph Dillon Thursday conceded the race for the 37th District to Democratic state Senator George Latimer. Dillon had 48 percent of the votes and Latimer, 52%, with absentee ballots yet to be counted. Dillon called to congratulate Latimer for a spirited campaign, and lauded Latimer's joining him in an extensive number of debates. Dillon, who has a consulting practice, served as senior advisor and chief of staff in the Treasury Department under President George W. Bush.
