Albany, NY – In March 2004, Sylvia Thomas from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and others, briefed the United Nations on "Girls and Technology: New Educational Opportunities." Their testimony was intended to elevate global awareness of the need for more women in the engineering and technology fields. The U.N. briefing follows the recent "Introduce A Girl To Engineering Day" that was part of the National Engineers Week program in the United States. It afforded us the opportunity to host a timely panel discussion with several important national contributors in science and engineering. Glenn Busby reports.
