A battle reenactment involving some 500 people this weekend will commemorate the epic 1777 siege of Fort Ticonderoga in northern New York.
President and CEO Beth Hill says “Defiance and Independence” is the fort’s signature reenactment.
“That is recreating the British General [John] Burgoyne’s pressing down on Ticonderoga and the capture of the fort,” Hill said. “So Saturday and Sunday we have events and programs going on all day. Different battle scenarios Saturday and Sunday as the British forces press even closer and ultimately capture Ticonderoga and push the Americans out via water.”
Fort Ticonderoga is open to visitors from 9:30 to 5, Saturday and Sunday.
