The field of potential opponents to Republican Congressman John Faso in New York’s 19th Congressional District continues to grow. Two Woodstock residents with deep roots in the swing district are announcing their runs.
Dave Clegg says he has decided to kick off his campaign July 9 in Kingston, where he has his law practice. Clegg says being a trial attorney and deacon give him a different skill set than other candidates and the ability to begin needed dialogues on different levels.
“I studied interfaith dialogue when I was at Yale Divinity School. And Muslims and Jews and Christians can talk together, why can’t people of different political persuasions talk?” says Clegg. “And in our district, we need to reach those who may have some different political beliefs.”
Another Woodstock resident, Jeff Beals, a high school teacher and former U.S. diplomat, is launching his campaign Friday in Kingston.
