Connecticut May Send Trash To Southern Albany County

70 Connecticut towns shopping around for a new place to dispose of solid waste have southern Albany County in their sights.

An old incinerator in Hartford is being shut down:  HudsonValley360 reports the Lafarge plant in Ravena has been named as a possible solution to what will likely become a trash disposal problem for Connecticut.

Locals fear an environmental disaster.

According to the website, the Coeymans Town Council issued a statement expressing its opposition to transporting Connecticut’s trash to Coeymans for disposal. This quote is attributed to "town officials" : “We were not notified in advance nor were we consulted in this matter, which would greatly affect the air, soil and water quality in our area.”

A decision is expected by December 31st.
