Comptroller promises close Tappan Zee oversight
By wamc news
With the state anxious to begin construction on a new Tappan Zee Bridge, New York Comptroller Tom DiNapoli says his office will be keeping a close eye on the financing of the more than three billion dollar project. DiNapoli spoke on WAMC’s Capitol Connection program.
“We are reviewing the contracts related to Tappan Zee. The big outstanding question, and we’re not going to know the answer to this until the federal government weighs in, is how much of a loan are they going to provide to the state of New York?" he said. "We’re assuming there will be a loan as the governor’s requested, and certainly when the project is under way we will certainly be using our post-audit authority.”
