CDTA Bus Incident Trial Begins Monday

Albany County DA

The trial against two former UAlbany students for their alleged roles in a racially charged incident aboard a CDTA bus on the Campus will begin with jury selection on Monday.

Asha Burwell and Ariel Agudio face charges stemming from a January 2016 incident aboard a CDTA bus. The two 20-year old African-American women from Huntington claimed they were physically and verbally attacked by 20 white people.

Video from the bus and interviews conducted by the police proved otherwise. In June, Co-defendant 21-year old Alexis Briggs accepted a plea bargain and apolgized to the community after admitting in court that she and the other women were the aggressors in the bus fight.

Burwell and Agudio's trial is to begin Monday morning at the Albany Co
