Former presidential candidate and business executive Carly Fiorina is scheduled to headline the Connecticut Republican Party's annual fundraising dinner. The state GOP announced Monday that Fiorina will deliver the keynote address at the 38th annual Prescott Bush Awards Dinner on May 24.
Fiorina dropped out of the 2016 Republican presidential primary battle in February. She has since been campaigning for Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, one of three remaining Republican candidates.
The Connecticut Democrats say the decision to invite Fiorina shows the state Republicans have become an "extreme right-wing organization."
Further details about tickets and the event are expected to be released later this week.
Last year's speaker was Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who ended his 2016 presidential campaign last month.
