Any Questions #310 - "Before and After" Jukebox

WAMC's Ian Pickus and resident quizzer Mike Nothnagel are back with some summer tunes.

Last week's challenge
Start with the phrase LOS ANGELES. Add a letter and you can rearrange the result to spell a two-word phrase (five letters, six letters) for something a future attorney gets in school. What is it?
Answer: If you add an L, you can spell LEGAL LESSON.

THIS WEEK'S CATEGORY: THE "BEFORE AND AFTER" JUKEBOX
On-air questions: It's time once again for one of our recurring categories: Before and After. As a refresher, each correct answer will be a combination of two things, where the last word of the first part is the first word of the other part. This time around, the second part of each answer will be the title of a well-known song.

1. What 1970 Simon and Garfunkel song reassures the listener that the singer is "on your side when times get rough and friends can't be found", all while taking the form of a California landmark whose paint color is officially called International Orange?
2. What 1962 novelty song recounts an incident when the singer was "working in the lab late one night" when his eyes "beheld an eerie sight", which was apparently the 37-foot wall behind left field at Fenway Park?
3. What 1971 Three Dog Night song is about a bullfrog named Jeremiah – a good friend of the singer's – and his desire to give everyone a certain candy bar, specifically the alternative to a Mounds bar that contains nuts?
4. What 1968 song by Tommy James and the Shondells in which the singer says of a girl, "Now I don't hardly know her, but I think I could love her" is possibly also about the school newspaper of a university in Cambridge, Massachusetts?
5. What 1967 Beatles song is about tangerine trees, marmalade skies, plasticine porters, newspaper taxis, and the Ricardo family?

Extra credit
1. What 1968 Jeannie C. Riley hit song tells the story of a woman named Mrs. Johnson who is scolded by a local school group for "wearing her dresses way too high", a group which is led by the current right fielder for the Washington Nationals?
2. What 1965 song by the Supremes, in which the singer tells the listener to do something "before you break my heart," also concerns a number used in photography to measure the speed of a lens?

This week's challenge
Start with the word COMBINATION. Drop one letter and you can rearrange the result to spell a two-word phrase (two letters, eight letters) for what a lazy person has. What is the phrase?
