: March, 18, 1850, in Buffalo, New York, Henry Wells and William Fargo merged their respective express mail companies to form a corporation known as American Express. Two years later, they started Wells Fargo and Company, after some American Express directors objected to expanding operations to California. To commemorate Wells and Fargo's business partnership, this week we've got questions about famous Wellses and famous Fargos.
