8th Annual Bike 'n' Fly In Great Barrington To Benefit Scholarship Fund, Community

The 8th annual Bike ‘n’ Fly is this Saturday at the Great Barrington Airport.

Kicking off with a Berkshire Aviation sponsored pancake breakfast at 8 a.m., the daylong celebration of biking and planes runs until 4 p.m., featuring a bevy of activities and scenic rides around the county on everything from bicycles to balloons. It’s the result of a partnership between the Great Barrington Rotary and the Airport. Richard Stanley is the chairman of the Rotary Club’s Bike ‘n’ Fly committee.

“The whole thing really revolves around planes in our region coming and flying in, which is really a tradition in our flying community," he told WAMC.

The Rotary will use proceeds from the event for scholarship funds and community projects. There’s more information here.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
