#1446: A Female Exec At Facebook And A Wall Of Positivity

On this week’s 51%, we hear from a female executive at Facebook and we bring you an essay about a wall of positivity. I’m Allison Dunne and this is 51%.

Deb Liu is vice president of platform and marketplace at Facebook. As one of few female executives in technology, Liu is working to address the challenges that women in tech are facing-- both on a day-to-day basis and through a non-profit she co-created called "Women in Product.”  KALW Inflection Point Host Lauren Schiller starts her conversation by asking why Liu thinks a women in product conference is important.

That was Deb Liu, vice president of platform and marketplace at Facebook, speaking with KALW Inflection Point host Lauren Schiller. Inflection Point with Lauren Schiller is produced at KALW in San Francisco. Hear Lauren's other conversations at inflectionpointradio.org.

We now bring you an essay from writer Dr. Jeri Burns.

Dr. Jeri Burns is a storyteller, writer, and educator living in New York's Hudson Valley. You can find her at www.storycrafters.com. She also is an adjunct professor in the Department of Communication at the State University of New York at New Paltz.

And that's our show this week. Thanks to Patrick Garrett for production assistance. Our executive producer is Dr. Alan Chartock. Our theme music is Glow in the Dark by Kevin Bartlett. This show is a national production of Northeast Public Radio. If you’d like to hear this show again, sign up for our podcast, or visit the 51% archives on our web site at wamc.org.
