Associate News Director Patrick Donges was brought on as Assistant News Director at WAMC in 2011 after first serving as the station’s Berkshire Bureau Chief out of Pittsfield, MA. Prior to his time at WAMC he reported on the city of Saratoga Springs for The Saratogian newspaper and served as News Director of WCDB 90.9 FM Albany, the University at Albany’s student radio station.

Born and raised in New York’s Mid-Hudson Valley, where he was an avid WAMC listener, Patrick first became acquainted with the WAMC News team in-person as a newsroom intern while completing his Bachelor of Arts degree in public affairs journalism and political science at the State University of New York at Albany.

New York Assemblyman Marc Butler - Amending the NY SAFE Act

The opposition to Governor Andrew Cuomo’s New York SAFE Act continues to ramp up this week. One Central New York Assemblyman has proposed new legislation amending the law to change how ‘assault weapons’ banned by it are defined. New York A.G. task force seizes cocaine, guns in second major bust of the last two months

Cocaine, cash, and guns seized as part of a joint operation by the New York Attorney General's Organized Crime Task Force, New York State Police, and The Albany Police Department, are displayed for reporters.

New York’s top law enforcement officials were joined by Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings and Police Chief Steven Krokoff in Albany on Tuesday to announce a major drug indictment.

The 11-month operation, code-named “Operation North Star,” resulted in a 226 count indictment of 31 defendants and the seizure of nearly 2 kilograms of cocaine with an approximate street value of $200,000 dollars, more than $100,000 dollars in cash, three vehicles, a bulletproof vest, and a hand gun that police say was to be used in an imminent murder.
