Hadley Walmart meets more protest

Hadley, MA – Plans for an expanded Walmart in Hadley, Massachusetts are continuing to trigger protests from some Pioneer Valley residents. Proposed Wal-Mart stores also have aroused opposition, as well as support, in parts of Vermont and in upstate New York this fall. The Hadley planning board met Tuesday night to consider traffic alterations around the proposed Walmart site, just off one of the region's main commuter routes. Bureau Chief Jessica Bloustein was there.

Multi-Million Dollar Gift for Skidmore

Saratoga Springs, NY – A memorial was held at Carnegie Hall in Manhattan, to celebrate the life of financier and philanthropist Arthur Zankel. Over a thousand people attended the service, including officials from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs. During the ceremony, an announcement was made that Zankel's estate will be giving Skidmore a gift well over 15 million dollars.
