Developer Looks to Convert Historic Building to Condos

Pittsfield, MA – A developer is hoping that tax credits and historic grants will help complete a four million dollar renovation of an early 19th century building in downtown Pittsfield. The hope is to build luxury condominiums, and tap into the booming second-home market in Berkshire County. WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief John Krol has the story.

Federal Funds for NY Medicaid

Albany, NY – Governor George Pataki wants the legislature to spend less money on health care in their budget, and now the governor says he has an incentive to get lawmakers to comply. Pataki says he's obtained new federal funds that will be distributed only if the legislature agrees to his Medicaid reform plans.

MA Governor Wants Death Penalty Legalized

Enviro Groups: NY Senate Budget Endangers Wetlands

Albany, NY – Environmentalists are up in arms over the absence of a few items in New York State Senate's budget legislation. They say the Senate's omission of provisions to protect wetlands flies in the face of what Governor Pataki touted in his budget proposal. A Senate Majority spokesman says there's really no need for the provisions. More from WAMC's Allison Dunne.
