Drug Bust in North Country Nets $8-million in Ecstasy

Mooers, NY – State and federal authorities have seized almost nine million dollars in illegal drugs in northern New York. Authorities seized 350-thousand tablets of ecstasy, worth almost 8-million dollars, and another million dollars in cocaine, in the largest drug bust in northern New York history.

Report Details Health of Lake Champlain

Burlington, VT – The Lake Champlain Basin Program, which oversees long-term management of the lake, has released its State of the Lake report. The lake is generally in good health, but its diverse nature presents some challenges, especially in its bays and tributaries where there are areas of concern.

NY Assembly Dems OK Casino

Albany, NY – New York Assembly Democrats have approved a bill that would allow development of one Native American casino in Sullivan County. With the state legislative session coming to a close this week, Senate leadership is negotiating with the Assembly to come up with a mutually acceptable bill. Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno wants three casinos as was originally proposed and approved some three years ago. WAMC's Hank Gross reports.
