The Language Learning Institute, LLC is a successful foreign language school, with locations throughout the Capital Region of New York. We currently specialize in the learning and study of French and, most recently, Italian. Language enthusiasts of all ages are welcome. This non-traditional school of language study is, indeed, a school without walls. We have locations in Clifton Park, Colonie, Latham and Niskayuna. Our newest location in Delmar is targeted to hold its first class this summer.

Our History: After having spent 25 years as a French teacher in both private and public education, Nancy A. Scarselletta* decided to put her education and experience together to bring her skills and experience to a different audience. The Language Learning Institute came into existence in January 2005 as the Learn French Language Institute. By the end of 2005, the school had the beginning levels of its offerings, its methodology, and its template for curriculum set in place for the adult program, courses, and classes. It was time to choose a name for the school which more accurately reflected the vision and mission of the school. "The Language Learning Institute" represented the continual nature of the learning and study of any language and, by name, was no longer limited to French courses and classes. After months of research and planning, "The Language Learning Institute, LLC" became a company in April of 2006.

That summer brought the birth of our Learn French Summer Camp for Kids program and in October we offered our first Children's After School Program in French. We are now in our second year of this program and we are building both the curriculum and enrollment. All of the materials for the program come from France, Canada or Belgium.

As the program in French developed, we added classes that were designed to enhance language study. We run specialized classes in Pronunciation for 5 week sessions and twice a year we run a Film Weekend.

In addition, for those people who love to travel, and experience the culture and history of the places they are visiting, we have our Learn French and Travel and Learn Italian and Travel programs. These programs afford everyone, regardless of language proficiency, opportunities for growth with our school and the language.

In March of 2007, we launched the Italian program for adults. The program will mirror the French program in all of it offerings of courses and classes. To date, we have two Beginning Italian classes for Adults and plans for our After School Children's Program in Italian are being developed.

Our next new program will be Spanish which is to be launched in January 2009. Shortly thereafter we will introduce English as a Second Language.

Courses for Adults: We offer an array of courses from beginning to advanced levels. We are constantly updating and creating new language study opportunities for our adult population. We work very hard at maintaining reasonable rates while bringing you quality programs delivered by talented teachers who love what they do.

Most of our courses run in sessions of 10 weeks. Each session consist of ten 90 minute classes. Each course has its own textbook, workbook and other support materials to facilitate learning. Every 10 weeks, the sessions are renewable and we continue with the book building on what has already been taught and learned. Each course runs until the book is complete and then our students move to the next level.

Additionally, we sponsor monthly social gatherings which afford language enthusiasts of all levels the opportunity for natural spontaneous conversation. This also offers the native speaker an occasion to use their language of birth so that it is not forgotten.

Programs for Children: We offer a variety of programs for children and young adults. Whether you would like to introduce your child to French or Italian at a young age or further develop their skills in these languages, we have a place for them. As with our Adult courses, The Language Learning Institute is constantly updating and creating new language study opportunities for children and young adults.

We have a wonderful summer line-up of courses for children and young adults. For children ages 5 through 12, we have our afternoon summer camp programs. For the language enthusiast who wants a fast paced summer study of French 1 we have a 4 week Intensive study course. For those who are struggling, we offer a two week remedial study of the basics. For a complete listing and registration visit us at: http://www.languagelearninginstitute.com/index.php?page=programs-kids

We are also planning to offer a summer camp for children in Italian, a one week intensive study of Italian and a one week remedial Italian for those students who are having challenges in school.

Travel-Study Opportunities for Adults: This division of the school was started in July 2004. It is designed to complement the private and group instruction and to include all other travelers who are interested in the history and culture of the country we are visiting but do not want to formally study the language.

Each trip includes a number of 90 minute classes prior to departure as well as guidance and instruction while on the trip. During the classes, you will meet your fellow travelers, study some of the history and culture of the areas to be visited and learn some of the language in order to be able to read the menu and order. Each culture has its own world of foods indigenous to its area and we will be addressing these as well so that you can thoroughly enjoy what you will be experiencing.

Time is also spent going over trip questions such as dress, money, and other concerns that you may have.

We have a great Learn Italian and Travel Program in store for fall 2008 as we travel from Rome to Pisa. We will be exploring both the ancient and papal Rome and then moving on to beautiful Tuscany where we will be participating in one of the local festivals and exploring Florence and Pisa just to name a couple of highlights. We will end our tour back in Rome with a visit to the beautiful and amazing Villa d'Este. If you are a traveler (first time or seasoned!) who would like to experience Italy this fall, plan on being with us! Our 5 pre-trip classes which include a Wine and Cheese tasting followed by classes in history and culture with some Italian so that you can order from the menu will heighten your travel experience. Our trip is a private tour so you will get to know everyone you are traveling with before you go. For more details about the Learn Italian and Travel program and our travel plans this fall, visit us at: http://www.languagelearninginstitute.com/index.php?page=learn-italian-travel

We will also be offering a two week travel-study program to France for adults (21 years of age or older) in March 2009.
