The international organization that deals with shared waterways between the U.S. and Canada is seeking public input on designing a study to mitigate future flooding on Lake Champlain and the Canadian river it flows into.

The International Joint Commission formed the International Lake Champlain - Richelieu River Plan of Study Workgroup after record spring floods in 2011 did tens of millions of dollars in damage.

The international organization that deals with issues in the Lake Champlain area is working to design a study to find ways to reduce future flooding in the lake and the Canadian river that drains it.

The International Joint Commission was created by the governments of the United States and Canada more than a century ago to manage waterways in both countries.

Vermont Lake Champlain Cruise Boat Moved to Memphremagog

A Lake Champlain cruise boat is getting a new home on another Vermont lake.

The boat Northern Star was taken out of the water Monday in Burlington and moved by truck to Newport on Tuesday where it is waiting to move into its new home, Lake Memphremagog.

Owner-Captain Chris Johansen formerly captained the Newport Princess, a small tour boat on Lake Memphremagog.

The Caledonian Record reports Johansen worked for other tour lines on Lake Champlain before deciding to bring a large charter cruise boat to Newport.

Vermont Gas Company Agrees to Lake Champlain Pipeline

A Vermont company has signed a deal to build a natural gas pipeline under Lake Champlain to transport fuel to a New York paper plant.

Vermont Gas says the line to International Paper in Ticonderoga, N.Y., is to be completed within three years.

The deal is costing the plant $70 million. It will need state and federal permits.

Report Shows Reductions of Mercury and PCB’s in Lake Champlain
