British PM Cameron Visits Boston Marathon Memorial

British Prime Minister David Cameron, accompanied by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, has visited the Boston Marathon bombings memorial.

Earlier this morning, Cameron and Patrick visited the makeshift memorial that includes T-shirts, letters, running shoes and other items.

The memorial grew in the wake of the April 15 explosions at the marathon finish line that killed three people and injured more than 260.

One suspect died in a shootout with police days later, while a second suspect is recovering in a federal prison hospital.

Mass. To Observe Moment Of Silence Monday

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick is asking residents to observe a moment of silence Monday at the time the first of two bombs exploded near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

The one-minute silent tribute to victims is scheduled for 2:50 p.m. and will be followed by the ringing of bells in Boston and elsewhere in Massachusetts. It marks one week since the attacks that killed three people and wounded more than 180 others.

Supporters of Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick's plan for a broad-based tax increase to pay for improvements in transportation and education plan to make their voices heard at the Statehouse.

A coalition called the Campaign for Our Communities has organized a rally and lobbying day today even as many top lawmakers appear to be shying away from Patrick's proposal to raise nearly $2 billion in new revenue.

BOSTON (AP) —Gov. Deval Patrick will be leading a Massachusetts trade mission to Colombia.

Patrick, his wife, Diane, and the delegation of government and business leaders plan to leave on Saturday for the South American nation and return to Boston on Tuesday. The group will stop in several Colombian cities including Bogota and Cartagena.

The governor's office said in a statement Thursday that the mission seeks to strengthen the state's ties to Colobmia's growing innovation, life sciences and clean energy sectors.

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick has unveiled a series of sentencing reforms, including efforts to curb sentencing on youth offenders convicted of first-degree murder.

Governor Patrick released a bill titled “An Act to Reform the Juvenile Justice System in the Commonwealth.” Two primary focuses of the bill would extended juvenile court jurisdiction from 17 years old to 18 years old, and would also prohibit mandatory life-sentences without parole for those convicted of first degree murder between ages 14 and 18.
