Planners in Berkshire County are reaching out to organizations in the public and private sectors to request information on their upcoming economic development projects.

The Berkshire Regional Planning Commission is talking to private businesses, municipalities, non-profits, agencies, and others to collect data in order to update its Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Priority Project List.

Export Forum Benefits Berkshire Businesses

Pittsfield-area commercial leaders and experts participated in a forum Tuesday to discuss bringing their businesses to an international level.

U.S. Representative Richard Neal said that the forum he organized for the business community in his new Congressional district is similar to forums he previously held in a former district closer to Boston. Neal said that across the Massachusetts have a significant potential for growth in a new global marketplace.

Draft North Country Development Plan Released

An economic development plan based on sustainability, smart growth and environmental stewardship for the Adirondacks and seven-county northern tier of New York was presented to stakeholders this week.

The draft North Country Regional Sustainability Plan’s major goals include generating and exporting renewable energy from the northern tier, energy efficiency improvements, development of alternative heating fuels from within the region, sustainable use of natural resources to enhance jobs and business development and environmental stewardship.

Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is launching a key component of last year's bipartisan jobs legislation that attempts to help entrepreneurs get their ideas off the ground.

The Democrat said Thursday that four "hubs" have been approved for Hartford, Stamford, New Haven and Storrs, where participants are provided with everything from financial, professional and mentoring resources to a collaborative workspace.
