What is Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy?
Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), commonly referred to as the McKenzie Method, is a unique evaluation and treatment method that involves using repeated motions and static positions to change subjective and objective measures. Unique to the method is the assessment, which has been proven both valid and reliable in evaluating pain. Treatment centers on patient involvement and self care. This allows the patient to quickly learn the cause of their pain and the appropriate way to abolish their pain. Most importantly, self care and independence empowers the patient to prevent future occurrences of their problem. Capital Region Physical Therapy is the only clinic in the capital area where all therapists practice MDT.

The Facility
Our clinic offers the best in clinical exercise equipment including strength training equipment by Cybex, Cybex treadmills and stationary bicycles, and a Sci-Fit upper body ergonometer. All treatment tables are fully adjustable to maximize patient comfort and to utilize the best possible positions for specific conditions.

We understand that early assessment and intervention is essential to rapidly reverse musculoskeletal conditions. We offer initial appointments within 48 hours of contacting our office, thus ensuring quick and easy access to the physical therapy services that you need. http://www.capitalregionpt.com/

Capital Region Special Surgery Race for Hope
Saturday, September 18, 2010

Last year, our 1st Annual Race for Hope on Sunday, October 25th raised $50,125 for St. Peter's Hospital Cancer Care Center. We had over 400 runners and walkers participate with just as many spectators.

Our second year promises to be even more exciting with the addition of a post-race family fun day and concert with a goal to double our fund-raising this year to $100,000!

The CRSS Race for Hope is dedicated to supporting those in our community affected by brain, head and neck cancers. Proceeds from this year's event will support two local organizations: 1) Patient Services at St. Peter's Hospital Cancer Care Center (via a special fund set up through the St. Peter's Hospital Foundation), and 2) Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region, Inc.

We sincerely hope that you will consider partnering with us by registering to run, walk, volunteer, fundraise or by becoming a sponsor of this event. And remember, there are lots of ways for your company to be a part of this community event beyond a sponsorship with options like building a Corporate Team and integrating this 5K into a Healthy Living initiative. Please contact SarahNicole Mahoney at (518) 441-8570 to discuss further.

Our 2010 race website is currently under construction but to see last year's please visit: www.capitalregionspecialsurgery.com/raceforhopealbany
