Julia Taylor
Julia
Taylor hosts and produces 51% each week. She also co-hosts The
Roundtable on WAMC with Joe Donahue each morning. Julia started out
with WAMC in its Hudson Valley bureau, reporting on the environment and
culture around the river. With a long-abiding love of telling and
hearing stories, Julia is smitten with public radio. She's also written
for Chronogram Magazine and the Central Penn Business Journal.
Julia double-majored in journalism and Spanish at Northwestern
University, took a smattering of gender studies courses, and capped her
education with an internship at NPR's All Things Considered.
Jeanne H. Neff
President, The Sage Colleges
Co-host, 51%
Dr. Jeanne H. Neff is in her twelfth year as President of The Sage
Colleges. She came to Sage from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove,
PA, where she served as Vice-President for Academic Affairs and Dean of
the Faculty.
Dr. Neff is an alumna of Wheeling Jesuit University and received her
graduate degrees from Rice University and Carnegie-Mellon University.
While at CMU, she received one of the first Woodrow Wilson Dissertation
Fellowships in Women’s Studies and went to publish scholarly articles
and her own poetry. Early in her career she taught at Carlow University
(PA) and then returned to WJU, where she served for 16 years as a
faculty member, academic dean and academic vice-president.
A leader within the independent sector of higher education,
in the early 1990’s Dr. Neff helped to launch a national consortium of
comprehensive colleges focused on innovation and best practices, the
Associated New American Colleges. She has served as Chair of the
American Conference of Academic Deans and as a member of the Board of
the Association of American Colleges and Universities. She is currently
Vice-President of the Board of the Council of Independent Colleges and
a member of the advisory committee for the Online Consortium of
Independent Colleges and Universities.
Locally, Dr. Neff is Chair of the Board of the University Heights
Association and a member of the Boards of Albany Medical Center and
Capital Bank and Trust Company. She is also co-chair of the Historic
Troy 2020 community planning group and a director of the Troy
Redevelopment Foundation.
